Danylo Matviienko undertook his musical studies at the Academy of Music in Donetsk and at the National Music Academy of Ukraine. He also holds a Master’s in mathematics from the National University in Donetsk. A member of the Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, he has studied under Eytan Pessen and taken part regularly in masterclasses given by Matthias Rexroth, Izabella Klosinska, and Neil Shicoff. He won second prize at the International Antonina Campi Vocal Competition in Lublin. In opera, he has performed at the Kyiv National Operetta Theatre and at the Opera Studio in Kiev. As a soloist, his performances have included works by Bach at the Donbass Opera and Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s Creation with the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Danylo Matviienko has been in residence at the Académie de l’Opéra National de Paris since September 2017.
