Born in Tokyo, pianist Eriko Sano has won attention as an outstanding pianist through numerous appearances in Europe and Japan and an impressive list of competition awards.

In 2002, she won the Pro Musicis International Award in Paris. Previous honors include top prize at the Japan Music Competition and Salabert Prize at the Orleans International Piano Competition in France.

Eriko Sano has performed as a soloist with orchestra, chamber musician and recitalist in major halls of Europe and Japan, including Salle Cortot and Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, La Monnaie in Brussels, and Tokyo Bunka Hall in Japan. She has also been heard in recital on the Japan Broadcasting Corporation's NHK, Japan's premiere classical radio station.

A graduate of the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Japan, Eriko Sano continued her studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. Her teachers include Moto Sasaki, Hidemitsu Hayashi, Kiyoko Tanaka in Tokyo, Georges Pludermacher in Paris, Lazar Berman in Italy. Currently she serves on the faculty of Kyoto City University of Arts in Japan.
