PIANO 2010 : Second Prize
Evgeni Bozhanov gave his first concerts with an orchestra in his home town at the age of twelve. He studied with Boris Bloch at the Folkwang-Hochschule für Musik in Essen and later with Georg Friedrich Schenck at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf. He has been a laureate of numerous competitions since 1996. In 2008 he won First Prize at the Alessandro Casagrande International Competition (Terni) and Second Prize at the Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition (Moscow). Last year he was a finalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and also won praise for his interpretation of the Franck Quintet with the Takács Quartet. He has performed at the Ravinia Festival (Chicago), the Chopin Festival (Warsaw), and the Trieste Chamber Music Festival. In 2010 he recorded a CD dedicated to Chopin with Fuga Libera, in coproduction with the bank BNP Paribas Fortis, who chose him as their laureate for 2010-11 for a private concerts series.
