Hwang Insu began his musical studies in his native Korea at Yonsei University, where he studied under Bae Yongnam and later under Nam Euicheon. He is currently pursuing his vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe under Donald Litaker. He has taken part in a number of competitions in Seoul, winning Second Prize in the Joongang Competition and First Prize in both the La Bella Opera and Vision Voice competitions, both in 2009. He has appeared in Così fan tutte (Guglielmo), in a Korea Broadcasting Company Arts Hall production, and in Le Nozze di Figaro (Conte di Almaviva) in the Yonsei Theatre. He has also sung in a concert performance of Mozart’s Coronation Mass.
