VIOLIN 1976 : Sixth Prize
Kaja Danczowska began her music education when she was seven. When she was eight, she started working with Eugenia Umińska and then entered her class in State High Music School in Cracow. Since 1972 she attended master classes with David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory. Two years later she finished a mastercourse with Ruggiero Ricci.

She was awarded 3rd prize at the Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań (Poland, 1967), 2nd prize at the Alberto Curci Violin Competition in Naples (1969), 2nd prize at the Geneva Competition (1970), 3rd prize at the International Radio Competition in Munich (1975) and the silver medal at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (1976).

Since the age of ten, Kaja Danczowska has been performing as a soloist all over the world. She has appeared on the stage with Christian Zimmerman (with whom she recorded Szymanowski's Myths), as well as with Heinz Holliger, Gidon Kremer, Jan Krenz, Misha Maisky, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Iwan Monighetti, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jurij Simonow, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Tadeusz Strugałą, Witold Rowicki and Antoni Wit.

Kaja Danczowska released several CDs and over 400 radio recordings, mostly for the Polish Radio and RIAS. She sits on the jury of Polish and international competitions in Poznań, Tokyo, Munich, New York and Odense. In 1972 she took became director of the violin department at the Academy of Music in Cracow. Since 1997 she has held a professor degree.
