SINGING 2004 : Laureate
Mary Elizabeth Williams started singing in a church choir at the age of ten, as the only child participant. She has studied at Luther College (Decorah, IA) under the baton of Weston Noble. When she spent a year with the Broadway touring company of ShowBoat, she met her voice teacher, Dr. Constance Haas, whom made her realise that her true passion was for opera. She went to France in 2002 to join the young artist program at the Opéra National de Paris. Since, she has debuted as Aida, Tosca and Leonora (Il Trovatore) with Kentucky Opera. She also appears at Indianapolis, Seattle and New Orleans Opera.
