PIANO 2013 : Second Prize
Rémi Geniet studied at the same time at both the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique and the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot, under Rena Shereshvskaya. At the age of 18 he obtained his Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste. He was also taught by Brigitte Engerer and has studied orchestral conducting and Renaissance polyphony. In 2011, he was the youngest laureate when he won the 3rd Prize at the International Beethoven Competition (Bonn) and also won the 1st Prize for Piano at the Interlaken Classics (Bern), having previously been awarded the 3rd Prize at the Horowitz International Competition (Kyiv) in 2010.

During the season 2013/14, Rémi Geniet debuted at Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall) and he gave concerts with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sinfonia Varsovia. He was invited to the festivals of La Roque d'Anthéron, the Folle Journée in Nantes and the Folle Journée of Japan, Deauville, Radio France, Piano Scope, Piano aux Jacobins, Estivales de Musique en Médoc, Festival de Sully, Soirees Musicales de Vénéjan but also on the Piano Days in Brussels, in Geneva and at the Opera of Ghent. He regularly plays in duo with cellist Henri Demarquette.

Rémi Geniet has performed with the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, the Orchestre National d'Ile de France, under conductors such as Emmanuel Krivine, Edo de Waart, Alan Buribayev, Volodymyr Sirenko, Michael Hofstetter, Marin Alsop, Philippe Bender, Stephan Blunier, Adrian Leaper and Pavel Gerstein.

He has participated in many festivals in France and abroad: Vladimir Spivakov Festival in Colmar, Les Folies Pianos Touquet, Piano Scope, Lisztomanias, Piano en Valois, Bach Festival of Toul, Les Moments Musicaux de Baule, Les Nuits du Piano in Erbalunga, Journées Internationales Alfred Cortot, Euriade festival in the Netherlands, Interlaken Classics festival in Switzerland, Juillet Musical d'Aulne and Eté Mosan in Belgium, Montreal Bach Festival and St. Petersburg Arts Square International Winter Festival. He was invited to the Musicora Salon 2012 in the Auditorium of the Louvre and also gave recitals in Vienna, Moscow, Germany and Poland.

Rémi Geniet is supported by the Safran Music Foundation. In April 2015 his recording devoted to J.S. Bach was awarded with a Diapason d'Or of the Diapason magazine.
