CELLO 2017 : Laureate
Sihao He trained under Hans Jensen and Julie Albers at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in Macon in the United States. He is currently completing a master’s at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, still under Hans Jensen. He has made his mark as a soloist in a number of competitions, winning First Prize at the Antonio Janigro Competition in Croatia in 2006, Fourth Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Cellists in South Korea in 2009 and First Prize in the Gaspar Cassado Competition in Japan in 2013. He has performed as a soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Macon Symphony Orchestra, and the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra. In chamber music, Sihao He was a member of the Simply Quartet, which came first in the 2009 Shanghai Chamber Music Competition.
