CELLO 2017 : Laureate
First Prizewinner at the André Navarra International Competition, Yan Levionnois won two special prizes at the last Rostropovich Competition, was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique 2011, and has been an Associated Artist of the Fondation Singer-Polignac since 2016. He studied in Paris under Marc Coppey and Philippe Muller, in Oslo under Truls Mørk, and later in New York under Timothy Eddy. He has been a soloist with, among others, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, under conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Dimitry Sitkovetsky, Jacek Kaspszyk, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Heinrich Schiff, and Arie Van Beek. He has made several recordings, in particular for EMI. Chamber music partners have included Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Augustin Dumay, Nicholas Angelich, Frank Braley, David Guerrier, Emmanuel Pahud, and Richard Galliano.
