Victor Santiago Asuncion
The Filipino-American pianist Victor Santiago Asuncion made his debut at the age of eighteen with the Manila Chamber Orchestra, before going on to perform in New York at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 1999. In chamber music, he has appeared with artists such as Lynn Harrell, Zuill Bailey, Andres Diaz, James Dunham, Antonio Meneses, Joshua Roman, Cho-Liang Lin, and Giora Schmidt and the Emerson, Serafin, São Paulo, and Vega quartets. Victor Santiago Asuncion was the pianist of the Garth Newel Piano Quartet for three seasons. He was a member of the chamber music faculty of the Aspen Music Festival and has been a guest at other festivals, including the Amelia Island, Highland-Cashiers, Music in the Vineyards, and Santa Fe festivals. His discography includes the complete Beethoven sonatas with the cellist Tobias Werner, the Shostakovich and Rachmaninov sonatas with the cellist Joseph Johnson, and the Grieg, Chopin, and Rachmaninov sonatas with the cellist Eva Drachman. He also played on Lynn Harell’s award-winning disc ‘Songs My Father Taught Me’. Victor Santiago Asuncion is the founder and Artistic Director of the FilAm Music Foundation, which promotes Filipino classical musicians. He obtained a Doctorate of Musical Arts in 2007 from the University of Maryland and is a Steinway artist.

José Gallardo
Born in Buenos Aires in Argentina, José Gallardo had his first piano lessons at the age of five. After attending the Conservatory in Buenos Aires, he went on to further studies under Poldi Mildner at the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz. It was in Mainz that he developed a passion for chamber music ; he has been inspired by artists such as Menahem Pressler, Alfonso Montecino, Karl-Heinz Kammerling, Sergiu Celibidache, Rosalyn Tureck, and Bernard Greenhouse. José Gallardo has won a number of national and international prizes, which have led to performances at numerous festivals, including the Lockenhaus, Verbier, Lucerne, Chopin and His Europe (Warsaw), Ludwigsburg, Kronberg, City of London, Budapest Academy, and Rheingau festivals. He has performed with, among others, Gidon Kremer, Vilde Frang, Barnabás Kelemen, Linus Roth, Nils Mönkemeyer, Tomoko Akasaka, Andreas Ottensamer, Nicolas Altstaedt, Julius Berger, Miklós Perényi, and Maximilian Hornung. He has recorded for the EMI, Warner, DG, Hänssler, Challenge Records Int., Oehms Classics, Neon, Genuin, and Naxos labels and has appeared in radio and television broadcasts from the BR, the SWR, the MDR, the BBC and RAI. Having previously taught at the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz, he now teaches at the Leopold-Mozart- Zentrum at Augsburg University. He and Andreas Ottensamer are the Artistic Directors of the Bürgenstock Festival in Lucerne, which is devoted to chamber music.

Thomas Hoppe
Thomas Hoppe has collaborated with many renowned musicians and singers, including Itzhak Perlman, Antje Weithaas, Tabea Zimmermann, Alban Gerhardt, Jens Peter Maintz, and Frans Helmerson. After studying under Lee Luvisi, he continued his training at the Juilliard School of Music, where he worked for Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman’s studio. As a pianist for the ATOS Trio and for the wind ensemble 4.1, he has performed to acclaim at many concerts all over the world. For almost twenty years, he has accompanied the candidates at international competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition, the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Hanover, and the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. He teaches masterclasses in musical accompaniment and in chamber music all over Europe, and also performs with quartets such as the Shanghai Quartet, the Modigliani Quartet, the Mandelring Quartet, and the Simply Quartet. Thomas Hoppe lives in Berlin with his family and has been a professor of chamber music at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen since 2018.

Boris Kusnezow

Boris Kusnezow is one of the most sought-after piano accompanists of his generation. His performances have taken him to such renowned concert halls as New York City’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Berlin’s Philharmonie. Boris Kusnezow was born in Moscow and has lived in Germany since the age of eight. He completed his musical studies in Hanover under Bernd Goetzke. Besides taking first place at the German Music Competition, he has won international prizes like the Borletti-Buitoni Trust and has been awarded scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. Besides being active as a musician, Boris Kusnezow is also the founder of the Chamber Lab chamber music academy, the artistic director of the IMAS international masterclass series, and the Schaumburger Schlosskonzerte chamber music series. Teaching has become an important part of his artistic career: in 2020 he was appointed professor of piano and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig.

Samuel Parent
France
Samuel Parent was born in 1982 in the Vaucluse. He studied under Michel Bourdoncle in Aix-en-Provence and, later, Olivier Gardon in Paris. In 2000, he went on to further studies under Brigitte Engerer at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, from which he graduated four years later. In 2008, he won Second Prize in the Rina Sala Gallo International Competition in Monza. That same year saw him join the chamber music class taught by the Artemis Quartet at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. For fifteen years, Samuel Parent was the pianist of Trio con Fuoco. In great demand as a chamber musician, he has performed with many different artists, including Gautier Capuçon, the Quatuor Ebène, Hugues Borsarello, the Van Kuijk Quartet, Henri Demarquette, Olivier Patey, Erik Berchot, and Ami Flammer. He has been invited to appear in prestigious settings such as the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, and the music season at Schloss Elmau. Samuel Parent is also a distinguished accompanist: since 2014, he has been Yanowski’s pianist, accompanying him on his La Passe Interdite tour. Since 2015, he has been the official accompanist of Gautier Capuçon’s cello ‘classe d’Excellence’ at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.

Takashi Sato

Born in Akita, Japan, in 1983, Takashi Sato is recognised as one of the most outstanding Japanese pianists of his generation. He has won prizes at several competitions, including the Music Competition of Japan 2001 (1st prize), the Schubert International Piano Competition 2007 (1st prize), the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2010 (laureate), and the Città di Cantù International Piano Competition 2011 (1st prize). After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts with top honours in 2006, he studied with Arie Vardi at Hanover University for Music and Drama until 2011, when he was awarded the Diplom-Konzertsolist. He also attended the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under the tutelage of Roland Keller. Alongside his accomplishments as soloist, working with numerous orchestras including the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Osaka Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony, and the Belgian National Orchestra, he is equally appreciated as an adept chamber musician and has collaborated with many renowned artists, including Karl Leister, Horigome Yuzuko, Watanabe Reiko, Sato Shunske, and Kamio Mayuko. A recording of Edvard Grieg’s complete sonatas for violin and piano with Sato Shunske was awarded a Grand Prize by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan at the National Arts Festival in 2007. Since 2014, he has been giving a recital series, ‘Schubert-Zyklus’, in Tokyo, presenting the complete works for piano of Franz Schubert.
