After completing his studies at Seoul National University, Eung Kwang Lee came to Germany in 2005 to continue his education with Anneliese Fried at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where he graduated in 2008. He has won numerous competitions and awards: First Prize at the International Singing Competition Alexander Girardi in Coburg (2006), First and Special Prize at the International Singing Competition Riccardo Zandonai in Riva del Garda (2008) and First Prize at the Concours Ernst Haefliger in Bern / Gstaad (2010). In addition, Eung Kwang Lee is a laureate of the international singing competitions Leyla Gencer in Istanbul, Francisco Viñas in Barcelona, Ferruccio Tagliavini in Graz, Spiros Argiris in Sarzana, IVC- Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, Alfred Giacometti in Pavia, Hilde Zadek in Vienna as well as the Grand Prix Maria Callas in Athens.

In 2007, the baritone made his debut as Marcello in La Bohème at the Seoul Art Center Opera House, which he embodied in the season 2008/2009 as a member of the Opera Studio OperAvenir at Theater Basel. In summer 2009, he was invited as Rigoletto at the Musica Riva Festival. In the season 2011/2012 he was a guest at the Saarland State Theater in Saarbruecken for the title role of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and in Bern as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte. In addition, he made his debut as Ford in Verdi's Falstaff at the Korean National Opera. Since 2009/2010 Eung Kwang Lee is part of the ensemble of the Basel Theater. There he was already Sharpless in Madama Butterfly , Alexander Petrovich Gorjantschikow in House of the Dead, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Count Tomskij in Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades , Amonasro in Verdi's Aida, Gamekeeper in Dvorák’s Rusalka, Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen and Renato in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. In the 2013/2014 season he takes on the title role in Eugene Onegin.
