Paulo Gori
Brazil, °1952

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Paulo Gori had as his main teacher the brazilian pianist Gilberto Tinetti, a pupil of Magda Tagliaferro. After winning several top prizes in his home country, in 1974 he went on to London on a tuition-free invitation from the great teacher Maria Curcio, a late pupil of Artur Schnabel. He then received a full grant from the British Council to pursue his studies with her.

In 1976 he was a prizewinner at the “Paloma O’Shea” International Piano Competition in Santander, and in 1978 a laureate at the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition.

Many concerts of great success followed, like solo recitals, chamber music, and concerts with orchestra in Germany, Belgium, England and Spain.

Back in Brazil in recent years Paulo Gori has been engaged in presenting the two books of Debussy’s Préludes at recitals, as well as playing the premiére of Villa-Lobos 4º Piano Concerto with the National Orchestra in Ecuador.

He has also participated in the recording of the ‘Complete Work for Piano’ by Brazilian composer Osvaldo Lacerda (1927-2011), a box of 6 cd’s launched in 2017 on the Paulinas-COMEP label.
