VIOLIN 1980 : Sixth Prize
Piotr Milewski built a distinguished career throughout the world including the U.S., the former Soviet Union, Germany, Holland, Austria, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Portugal and Belgium. He has won numerous international and national competitions including first prize in the National Violin Competition in Poznan, Poland, and a silver medal in both the Paganini International Competition and the Wieniawski International Competition in Poland. A prize winner in the International Sibelius Competition in Finland, he was a silver medalist in the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Violin Competition in Brussels, where he also won the Audience Prize. His recording of the Frank Martin Concerto was praised by American Record Guide as 'by far the best.' An active chamber musician he has performed for several years with the Amati Trio. He studied with Jadwiga Kaliszewska at the Poznan Conservatory, Josef Gingold at Indiana University and Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang at Juilliard. Piotr Milewski assisted Dorothy DeLay at Juilliard and teaches at the Cincinnati University College Conservatory of Music and the Aspen Music Festival.
