SINGING 1992 : Second Prize
Before moving to Germany, Brazilian tenor Reginaldo Pinheiro won several voice competitions in his home country. He studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and continued to win prizes at competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition, ARD Musikwettbewerb, the Luisa Todi and Francisco Vinas competitions. His interests turned gradually from opera to concert, developing his repertoire from Bach oratorios to romantic repertoire by Mendelssohn, Rossini and Verdi, whose Requiem he sings most often. His performances bring him throughout Europe, South-America, the United States and Israel. A pedagogue and masterclass teacher, he has been on the faculties of the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main and the Conservatorium Maastricht. Since 2001 Reginaldo Pinheiro teaches at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.
