Rolf Plagge

In July 1990 Rolf Plagge became the first German pianist ever to win a prize in the prestigious Moscow Tehaikovsky Competition. He had already been awarded numerous prizes in national and international competitions in Vienna, Bratislava, Montevideo, Bonn, and several times in ltaly.
In 1987 he won the Queen Elisabeth Competition and has since been a frequent performer in Belgium.
Rolf Plagge has played in many European countries, including Russia and the former USSR, as well as in the USA and Latin America. Apart from giving solo performances with various German, and other European orchestras, he is also in regular demand for radio, television and studio recording sessions.
Plagge was born in 1959 Pin Westerstede, North German,y and received his first piano lessons at home. By 1969 he was studying at the Bremen Conservatoire with Professor Peter-Jürgen Hofer and then went on to the Conservatoire in Hamburg.
After winning several prizes and scholarships he continued his studies with various leading professors: in Freiburg with Vitaly Margulis, in Vienna with Paul Badura-Skoda, at the Juilliard School with György Sandor and in Hanover with Karlheinz Kämmerling.
