After obtaining a degree in clarinet performance at the Franz Liszt Academy (Budapest), Hungarian tenor Szabolcs Brickner studied singing at the same school. He continued his voice programme by taking master classes at the Hochschule für Musik in Augsburg with among others Hans Joachim Beyer and Edith Wiens, and private lessons with Nicolai Gedda.

He has performed under the baton of Kazushi Ono, Günter Neuhold, Nicolas Chalvin, Daniele Callegari, Stefan Klingele, Helmut Rilling, Nicola Luisotti and many others, with the La Monnaie/De Munt Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Hungary and the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra.

Szabolcs Brickner has recently made his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper and has sung the Verdi-Requiem under the baton of Günther Neuhold, Beethoven's 9th Symphony under the baton of Michel Tabachnik and The Seasons (Haydn) with the Orquestra Ciudad de Granada. He performed as Jaquino (Fidelio) at the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam and as Alfredo at a gala performance of La Traviata in Frankfurt. For the Opéra du Rhin he incarnated Belmonte (Entführung aus dem Serail).

A regular guest of the Hungarian State Opera, Szabolcs Brickner has sung the roles of Tamino (Zauberflöte), Jaquino (Fidelio), Nemorino (L’Elisir d’Amore), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette) and - with great succes - Lenski (Eugen Onegin).
