2021 Piano Competition

The piano competition is now six months away. Initially, it was due to be held in 2020, but was postponed until May 2021. At the moment, no one can say under what kind of conditions the competition might be held, but we are doing everything possible to make it a great event and to support the young musicians, who need our help more than ever.

These are the dates for Piano 2021:
  • 03 > 08/05 : first round
  • 10 > 15/05 : semi-final
  • 19 & 20/05 : recitals of the non selected semi-finalists
  • 24/05>29/05 : final (with the Belgian National Orchestra)
  • 07/06 : concert with laureates 4,5,6 (with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra)
  • 09/06 : closing concert with laureates 1,2,3 (with the Brussels Philharmonic)

Cycle of four instruments
This postponement will of course have consequences for the other disciplines, all of which have been moved forward by one year: the cello session, that was scheduled for 2021, will take place in 2022, the voice competition in 2023, and the violin session in 2024. The age limit for candidates will be raised by one year, for the complete cycle of sessions, i.e. until the piano competition of 2025.

Tickets and subscriptions for Piano 2020
Due to the continuing uncertainty about the security measures that will apply in May 2021, we decided to refund all tickets and subscriptions purchased for the 2020 Piano session. More information on our reservation page.
