55 candidates
As some of the 68 candidates have withdrawn, there are 55 singers who will participate in the first round. Find out more about the candidates on their personal pages.

Each candidate will perform two pieces of their own choosing (opera arias, oratorio arias, Lieder or art songs), in different languages and of different periods, with piano accompaniment. Their programmes will be added to their personal pages on this website and the first round calendar on Saturday 20 May.

Jury and accompanists
The performances of the candidates will be judged by an eminent jury panel of teachers, soloists and music professionals, presided by Bernard Focroulle. On stage they can count on the accompaniment of official pianists. Find out more about them on the jury members page and the accompanists page

Proclamation of the semi-finalists
Due to the technical preparations for the semi-final, the first round proclamation will not be live streamed. The names of the 24 semi-finalists will be announced on our website after midnight on Monday 22 May.
