18/06/2024 On Saturday 20 July at 8 pm, the festivities surrounding the National Day will start with a free concert. Soprano Sumi Hwang, First Laureate of the 2014 Queen Elisabeth Competition, will perform with the Belgian National Orchestra under the baton of Antony Hermus. The King and Queen will traditionally attend the concert.
Tickets
There are no more tickets available. They have been distributed by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Broadcasts
The concert will be broadcast live on Musiq3 and Klara and slightly delayed on La Trois and Auvio (at 8:10 pm). VRT CANVAS will broadcast the prelude on 21 July at 2 pm and from then on it can also be viewed on VRT MAX.
Programme
The concert will begin with an orchestral prelude from
Lohengrin by Richard Wagner. Soprano Sumi Hwang will perform three Lieder by Richard Strauss, two arias from
Gianni Schicchi and
La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini and another from
Faust by Charles Gounod. The orchestra will also play an interlude from
Le Villi by Puccini, and will close this concert with
La Valse by Maurice Ravel.
