26/04/2022 At each instrumental session, the Queen Elisabeth Competition calls on two composers for the creation of the unpublished compulsory works. This year, Daan Janssens has written the semi-final work for cello and piano, and Jörg Widmann the work for cello and orchestra to be performed in the final.
The candidates receive the semi-final work upon the acceptance of their application. As for the finalists, they only receive the score one week before the date of their performance at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts. During that week, they are secluded in the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, to prepare for the final.
Semi-final : Daan Janssens His work
Wie aus der Ferne will be performed by the 24 semi-finalists during their recital, from 16 to 21 May at Studio 4 of Flagey. World première on Monday 16 May at 3pm.
