07/04/2021 For more than 15 years, the Queen Elisabeth Competition has been organising free concerts for young audiences with laureates from different sessions. These concerts, which traditionally take place in March, in Brussels, Louvain-la-Neuve and Leuven, aim to introduce and attract a young audience to the beauty of classical music. This year, given the circumstances and thanks to the support of Proximus, a new project has emerged.
A magnificent film was produced live at Flagey, in which you will meet
Rémi Geniet, a laureate of the 2013 piano session and
Aurélien Pascal, a laureate of the first cello session in 2017. At the microphone of two young presenters,
Sander De Keere and
Valentine Jongen, Rémi and Aurélien tell us about “their” competition, what changed in their lives after becoming laureates, and they also share some of their dreams for the future.
The musicians perform three pieces by
Nadia Boulanger, the
Sonata n. 1 op. 38 by
Johannes Brahms and
Le Grand Tango by
Astor Piazzolla. We will also have the pleasure of hearing Rémi in part of the
Valses Nobles et Sentimentales by
Maurice Ravel and Aurélien in the first movement of the
Suite for cello by
Gaspar Cassado.
This film invites young ánd old to an intimate encounter with these laureates, and also has a few surprises in store for you!
Watch this beautiful concert film as from Sunday April 11 at 20:30 via Pickx Live on Proximus TV and the Pickx app, or online at
