CELLO 2026 : Laureate
A graduate of the Juilliard School and New England Conservatory, Andrew Ilhoon Byun is currently artist-in-residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under Gary Hoffman and Jeroen Reuling. First Prize winner of the 2024 Windsor Competition, in 2025 he won Third Prize and the Isang Yun Special Prize for best performance of works by the composer at the Isang Yun Competition. He has appeared at the Alice Tully Hall and Jordan Hall, and performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. A passionate chamber musician, he has played alongside Erin Keefe, Hagai Shaham and members of the Hagen Quartet and at festivals worldwide, including Ravinia, Verbier and Villecroze. He has also studied chamber music under Catherine Cho, David Finckel, Roger Tapping, and members of the Juilliard, Brentano, Vermeer, Orion and Dover quartets.
