Cello 2022

In May 2022, the Queen Elisabeth Competition is organising its 2nd edition dedicated to the cello. The very first Cello Competition, in 2017, was a huge success !

The final will take place from Monday May 30 to Saturday June 4, 2022. Each evening, two finalists will perform with the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Stéphane Denève. Each finalist will perform a concerto of his or her choice and an unpublished imposed work written especially for this Competition.

During the concert of the 4th, 5th and 6th laureates of Tuesday, June 14, the soloists will be accompanied by the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, directed by Giordano Bellincampi. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd laureates will close the 2022 competition with a concert on Thursday June 16. They will be accompanied by the Belgian National Orchestra, conducted by Eivind Aadland.

Experience these eight musical evenings in the company of outstanding young cellists in the magnificent setting of the Henry Le Boeuf Hall of the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts !
