CELLO 2026 : Second Prize
Born into a family of musicians, Tae-Yeon Kim has been studying since 2022 at the Curtis Institute of Music under Gary Hoffman and Peter Wiley, supported by the Jacqueline du Pré Memorial Fellowship. She is the recipient of many major prizes, including First Prize at the 2024 Lutos³awski Competition in Poland, the Franz Helmerson Prize of the Kronberg Academy Cello Festival, the B. Martinù Prize of the Prague Spring Competition, First Prize at the Antonio Janigro Competition, and both First Prize and the Conductor’s Prize at the Gustav Mahler Competition. Having made her debut recital at age twelve at the Kumho Arts Center in Seoul, she has appeared worldwide as a soloist with such international orchestras as the Brevard Festival Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Saint Petersburg City Orchestra and KT Chamber Orchestra.
