In 2022, the Queen Elisabeth Competition will be dedicated to the cello for the second time. This competition is for musicians who have completed their training and who are ready to embark upon an international career. From 9 May to 4 June 2022, the best young cellists from the four corners of the world will compete in Brussels.

Cellists aged between 18 and 31 years of age could apply until Wednesday 8 December 2021. In January, the videos of 152 candidates have been screened by an international jury behind closed doors. 68 of them have been selected to participate in the first public round, starting on 9 May in Studio 4 of Flagey. As some of the 68 candidates have withdrawn, there are 66 cellists who will participate in the first round.

The tickets and subscriptions for the competition rounds and the laureates' concerts can be booked via Flagey and Bozar. We are very happy to be able to welcome you again in both concert halls !

The very first Queen Elisabeth Competition for cellists was held in May 2017, to great success ! Relive the performances of First Laureate Victor Julien-Laferrière and the other laureates and semi-finalists in sound and video.
