CELLO 2026 : Fourth Prize
After studying at the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville, Álvaro Lozano Cames started his bachelor’s degree at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid in 2023 under Jens Peter Maintz. Supported by scholarships from Grupo Planeta and Fundación Albéniz, he has taken masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Mischa Maisky and Philippe Muller. In Spain and internationally, he has won several major distinctions, including First Prize at the Antonio Janigro, Gustav Mahler Cello, Peregrinos Musicales and Intercentros Melómano Soloists competitions. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Kölner Kammerorchester, Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga and European Youth Orchestra of Madrid. He is a member of the Banco de España Arriaga Quartet and the Satie de Bain Trio at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
