VOICE 2014 : Laureate

A graduate of the National University of Arts in Korea, Hansung Yoo continued his training at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg under the tutelage of Carolyn James. A laureate with several prizes to his name, he has won the Internationaal Vocalisten Concours ’s-Hertogenbosch (The Netherlands, 2008), the International Competition of Marmande (2011), the International Competition of Cologne (2011), and, in 2012, he was given second prize and the public’s prize at the ARD’s International Competition in Munich. On stage, he has played Papageno (
Die Zauberflöte by Mozart), Belcore (
L’Elisir d’amore by Donizetti), Figaro (
Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart), Trinity Moses (
Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny by Weill), and Shaunard (
La Bohème by Puccini). This season, he was taken on by the Staatstheater of Kassel.
