VOICE 2023 : Sixth Prize
Winner of the “Révélation Artiste lyrique” award at the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2024, mezzo-soprano Juliette Mey is one of the most fascinating opera singers of the new generation.
After making a remarkable debut last season as Rosina (
Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini) at the Opéra de Toulon, she reprises the role during the 2026-2027 season at the Théâtre national du Capitole de Toulouse, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and the Opéra de Tours.
She also makes her United States debut in Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Nathalie Stutzmann, and performs the role of Oreste (
La Belle Hélène) at the Opéra de Rouen.
In addition to Rosina, her young career has already seen her perform the roles of Cherubino (
Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Opéra national du Rhin, Zerlina (
Don Giovanni) at the Opéra de Valence in Spain, Siebel (
Faust) at the Opéra de Lille and later at the Opéra Comique, Amore and Valletto (
L’Incoronazione di Poppea) at the Opéra de Toulon, Isaura (
Tancredi) at the Opéra de Rouen, and the title role in
La Cenerentola in a youth-oriented version of Rossini’s opera at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and subsequently at the Opéra de Rouen.
A member of the 11th edition of Jardin des Voix under the auspices of Les Arts Florissants and its directors William Christie and Paul Agnew, she undertook a triumphant tour of Europe, the United States, and South America in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen.
She has performed in concert with orchestras and ensembles such as Les Talens lyriques, Cappella Mediterranea, the Orchestre de l’Opéra royal de Versailles, the Orchestre et Chœur National de Hongrie, Ricercar Consort, Les Épopées, Les Accents, La Chapelle Harmonique, Le Palais Royal, the Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie, and musicians of the Orchestre d’Auvergne.
She has also appeared at the Salzburg Festival Whitsun in Mozart’s
Messe en Ut, at the Festival de Prades in Berlioz’s
Les Nuits d’été, and at the Opéra de Paris during performances of the ballet Mayerling.
In addition to her Victoire de la Musique, she is a prizewinner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition and Voix Nouvelles 2023, a member of Génération Opéra and of the Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2022, and a laureate of the Concours Jeunes Espoirs Raymond Duffaut d’Avignon 2021.
After beginning her vocal training at the Maîtrise du Conservatoire de Toulouse (directed by Mark Opstad), she continued her studies with Léa Pasquel at the CRR de Montpellier, before joining the Pôle Baroque de Toulouse in 2018 and the CNSMDP de Paris in 2021, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance in 2025.
