PIANO 2025 : Fifth Prize
After attending the Toho Gakuen School of Music under Hisako Ueno, Michiko Okamoto and Shoichi Hase, Masaya Kamei
is currently studying under Momo Kodama at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and pursuing a Soloist Diploma Course at the Toho Gakuen School of Music. In 2022 he gained international recognition when he won the First Prize, Journalists Award and Audience Award at the Long-Thibaud Competition in France. That same year he won Third Prize at the Maria Canals Competition. During a tour of Japan in 2024 with the Budapest MÁV Symphony Orchestra, he also appeared alongside such orchestras as the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and New Japan Philharmonic. Invited to the Festival de la Grange de Meslay and Lille Piano(s) Festival during the summer of 2024, he returned to the Festival de La Roque d’Anthéron to perform with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille under the baton of Lawrence Foster. He has given recitals in Vienna, Sydney and Seoul.
