VOICE 2018 : First Prize
The young German baritone Samuel Hasselhorn studied at the Hanover and Paris conservatories and is currently working with Patricia McCaffrey in New York. He has made a big impression at a number of competitions, winning first prize at the SWR Junge Opernstars 2018 and at the Das Lied International Song Competition, as well as prizes at the Wigmore Hall Song Competition, the Hugo Wolf Competition, the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York, the Concours international Nadia et Lili Boulanger in Paris, and the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin. In concert and in recital, he has sung at the Ravinia Music Festival and the Marlboro Festival and at Carnegie Hall, Notre-Dame de Paris, and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. He has also performed at the Lyons and Leipzig opera houses. His first CD, Nachtblicke, of lieder by Schubert, Pfitzner, and Reimann, came out in 2014.
