Queen Elisabeth Competition @ Home

01/06/2020

There were no piano sounds on the stages of Flagey and the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts during the month of May. In order to keep in touch with you, dear Audience, we simply bring the Competition to your living room.

When we cannot enjoy music together in a concert hall, it feels more than ever as a connecting element. To keep in touch with you, dear Audience, we have launched a new project: “Queen Elisabeth Competition @ Home”.

Using our extensive audio, video and photo archives, we give you the opportunity to (re)discover the Competition in a digital way. As May 2020 should have been dedicated to the piano, we have focused on the most beautiful moments of the past piano competitions.

Of course, the violin, the cello and voice sessions are well-represented too: you can browse through audio recordings dating back to 1951, digitised videos as old as 1967 and photographs that reflect the history of the Competition since its origins in 1937.
