20/03/2025 For each instrumental session, the Queen Elisabeth Competition calls on two composers to create the unpublished compulsory works. This year, Ana Sokolović has written the semi-final work for piano solo, and Kris Defoort the work for piano and orchestra to be performed in the final.
The candidates receive the semi-final work upon the acceptance of their application. As for the finalists, they only receive the score one week before the date of their performance at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts. During that week, they are secluded in the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, to prepare for the final.
