Concerts for the young audience with Juliette Mey

12/10/26

Each year, the Queen Elisabeth Competition invites young people to discover the magic of classical music through a series of concerts in Brussels, Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve. During these recitals, laureates of the Competition share their passion, tell the story behind the works they perform, and offer the audience a unique musical experience. For many young listeners, this is their very first encounter with this universe.

For the next series in March 2027, we have invited mezzo-soprano Juliette Mey, Sixth Laureate of the 2023 Voice Competition. She will be accompanied by pianist Rodolphe Lospied.

Shortly after her success at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Juliette Mey also distinguished herself at the Voix Nouvelles Competition and the Victoires de la Musique Classique. Her young operatic career has already taken her to major European stages, as well as on concert tours with Les Arts Florissants as far afield as the United States and South America. Find out more about her and reliver her Competition performances on her personal page on our website.

Programme

The programme will be announced soon and is suitable for young people aged 10 and over. During the concert in Brussels, presenter Ella Michiels will guide you through the programme, sharing fascinating anecdotes about the works and interviewing the artists.

Watch Juliette Mey’s performance in the 2023 Final below, in which she shines in ‘Agitata da due venti’, one of Antonio Vivaldi’s most spectacular coloratura arias. The aria showcases the exceptional agility of her voice, and her performance went viral on social media:
